The Story of the Ages

In the beginning there was the Will, and the Will was everything.  But there was conflict within the Will, and the Will was broken.  The part of the Will that was below became Creation, while the part that remained above became the Heavens, and within the Heavens were the Three, the Firstborn of Heaven.  Jesev stood in the center of a sphere of brilliant light, Elusk stood in the depth of an Abyss of darkness, and Saverel stood not between them, but off to one side, in the twilight, and thus were the Firstborn of Heaven.  Then the Three took up what was left of the Heavenly Will, and formed it into their Angels.  While in Creation, life emerged.  The Firstborn of Creation, the Primordials, were proud and noble, like unto gods.  And this was the First Age of Creation, the Primordial Age.

But in the Heavens the Three made war, and when their war consumed the whole of Heaven, they brought it into Creation.  And the arrival of the gods within Creation was a great cataclysm, and very few Primordials survived.  The survivors, tainted by the violence of the Three were Ogres, Dragons, Unicorns, Harpies, and other such mythical beasts.

The Three regretted the death they had caused, so they gathered up the souls of the slain and gave them new form.  The souls of animals became Elves, the souls of plants became Trolls, and the souls of elemental beings became Dwarves.  Many of the new-born Elves, Trolls, and Dwarves, the Elders, entered into the service of the gods, swelling their armies, and the war of the gods continued within Creation.  And this was the Second Age of Creation, the Elder Age.

But the goddess Saverel, Lady of Twilight, saw that Creation was not healing from the cataclysm and she called a truce so that the fate of Creation could be decided by the Three.  The Three agreed to leave Creation so that it could heal, and to let the war in Creation be carried out by the children of Creation on behalf of the Three.  But before they left Creation, a new race was created, a race that would not know the faces of the Three and would be untainted by their presence in Creation.  The new race was Man.

And then Jesev withdrew into the Luminous Heavens, and Elusk withdrew into the Dark Abyss, while Saverel, as had been agreed, remained in Creation, though hidden from it's children, to ensure that the others did not violate their agreement.  And thus began the Third Age of Creation, and age that will be named in honor of it's heros, by those who come after.
